The Honda 1800cc VTX is the largest of the Honda Shadow family the Xtreme, twin cylinder yep 900cc Per cylinder 4-stroke, originally producing close to 100BHP – this one is slightly more with Power commander and custom exhaust, Shaft Drive, 5 Speed, liquid cooled, Linked Brake missile weighing in around 330kg.

April 5th 2022:

Full professional wash and polish, ACF50 and Ceramic coating, sussexmotorcyclevalet.co.uk  took 5 hours to complete this and although not concourse it is amazingly clean and tidy with some age related marks, she is 17 years old..

New Rear tyre, front is good

Oil and Filter changed

New Rear brake pads

There are no electrical gremlins and everything functions as it should.

 

Cobra custom exhaust with baffle ( its still loud, like your neighbours will appreciate the early Sunday wake up call to be up and start their day –  loud ), I have the original exhaust that comes with the sale, its mint, I don’t think it had more than a couple hundred miles on it when it was replaced.

It has a 6000 lumen LED front bulb, and will come with the standard H7 for MOT day ( LED bulbs are an MOT fail unless fitted as original equipment from the factory ).

It has a great Private plate that I will include with the sale  L8 VTX which reads 1.8 VTX, never been stopped for it, doesn’t mean you wont, plate screw head can be changed to black from yellow.

 

This bike has never let me down, its turn key and go, its a Honda. London to Lands End 7 hours, like riding a sofa or when abusing country lanes – yes it turns when you get the knack of it and yes you’ll scrape the pegs when you haven’t or try really hard 🙂 sparks are fun. It is not a race bike, its not designed to be a race bike, it is way cool and a lot of fun to ride, but it has a lot of giddy-up.

The 1800 VTX is different there aren’t many of these in the UK compared to other makes and models, they don’t make them anymore, is it an investment bike ??

 

The Good:

Honda reliability, Comfort, Fun, surprises sports bike riders off the line ( shaft drive ) Its in great condition, and very stable when riding.

1800cc – With Power Commander and Cobra Exhaust

Really is a blast to ride, looks unique, always draws attention, its just a great bike to own and ride.

Serviced and Maintained by Bob, yes Bob of Dunstall Motorcycles until I moved recently. Dunstalls is old school quality Servicing, Repairs and MOTs use the phone, 0208 650 0814, Beckenham, Kent.

The Bad:

If you are looking for fuel economy, its an 1800cc !! depending on how you ride early 34ish to the gallon, top speed around 135mph, shes heavy, moving around the garage is no fun, light as a ballet dancer with the wheels turning.

In great  condition, small imperfections age related marks. Front mudguard paint is starting to crackle, have a quote of £100 to respray in honda colour coded black, might have it done while listing.

The lacquer on the top of the forks is rubbed from when a tall windshield was on it, which i hated hence the mini screen. only way to really sort this is to to remove the lacquer and doesn’t take away from the overall look of the bike.

the foot pegs have seen and met the tarmac around corners,  hero marks you could say, I may replace these while its listed, the old rear tyre ain’t got no chicken strips.

The Ugly:

Mostly the rider 🙂 There isn’t anything that would stop me buying the bike, I’ve had a mini service, oil and filter, new rear tyre and rear brake pads, its just doesn’t need anything else, get on it and ride it around the UK or Europe it’ll take you everywhere in comfort and with smiles per mile.
